Kevin comes home tomorrow! This is such a good thing as last year he didn't have much time home over the holidays. This year he will be home starting the 19th and flying out on the 5th... this is good matchy matchy with the kids last day before the holidays and first days back to school after the holidays. Hopefully Dean can get over this afternoon to finish up the dwnstrs bthrm... this will be such an accomplishment for this household as we tend to be starters and not finishers ;) More so on Kevin's behalf (even though he hasn't been here for the majority of this project) but I do tend to fall into it on occasion, but not very often.

We don't really have any plans for whilest Kevin is home and the kids are out of school... just really for tomorrow and Saturday... tomorrow after I pick him up from the Comox airport and then rush back as cautiously as possible with the roads being icy and snowy get the kids from school... head straight over to Pa's for our tree, Pa will come for dinner once he's done for the day with the tree's, Billie has youth group... movie night so we will decorate the tree Saturday morning..... and after that maybe we'll get some good quality Christmas shopping done ...lol! Nothing like leaving it to the last minute ;)

In the mean time I'll be getting the second and hopefully last coat of paint on the bthrm ceiling and walls, tiding up the house in general, figuring out what food we need to get before it's to to busy in the grocery stores... knitting up Kevin's second comically long sock and starting Pa's pair... no time like the present to get stuff done!

I almost forgot I still need to make a bag for my Q4 bag swap partner!
This I rember as I'm blocking the just felted bags.

If only I could have another helping of time!

We had a nice uneventful weekend here. Kayne and I went around to a couple of craft and pottery sales between here and courtenay and then I took him to Walmart  (to start but they didn't have what he was looking for) and Zellers so that he could buy himself a Lego set. He was pretty intent on what he wanted but neither store had what he was looking for so he opted for another largeish set. I figure if he is using his own money (he once had a paper route andstill has money in his account from that) I'm not a big fan of going out and buying ones-self stuff right before birthdays and christams but he says that he wantd to buy it and well what was I to say NO I want to!....so really he got a set that he wanted and is undestanding about saving and spending what you save way earlier than BIllie...as she isn't showing any signs yet of wanting to save.

They both went to Madagascar 2 on Saturday night...they said that it was great other than some random loud screacing sound right before the movie actually started. I was a nice mom and went by the theatre on my way top a craft sale and picked up their tickets for the evening, this was good b/c when we got their the line up was a long one....so my kidsjust strolled right on by everyone in line cause they had their tickets already. (highly recommend the getting tickets during the day for evening shows on opening weekend)

I went to knitting group yesterday afternoon and as always quite enjoyed the company and myself. I am looking forward to seeing the larger part of the group this wednesday. I have been working on a pair of socks ) for myself lately as I was working on a nice wrap out of some beautiful Kauni yarn and have made a mistake somewere and haven't been able to find it so I've been taking a break from it and will go back to it after I have finished the socks. I will post a pic of the socks again when they are done. Oh I will alos post a pic of the wondeful wrap to when it's done.

The mail has just arrived and I got my package from my bag exchange....it came all the way from the UK! I must go now and take pics and open up the package! I'll post pics of this package later to!

Socks gone a-rye

So there I sat happily knitting away all done the heel flap and moving onto the guset and a few rows in I realize all of my stitches are looking as though I have been purling? So from the end of the heel flap my sock apears to be inside out????? and I have been following the pattern and actually have already done a couple of socks using this pattern. I am at a total loss as to what I could have done to screw it up this way..... my god how I really don't want to knitt backward and rea work it all from the get go of the heel flap.

Any suggestions as to what I could have done would be much appreciated.

TIA

So here we are school is officialy done for another year. Yay! I was getting tired of geteting up in the morning and having the drag the kids out of bed. Especially when it was hard for me to get up. so yes my kiddies are still sleeping and I am up....how nice it is to wake up on my own ;-)
I already have laundry going and am debating going for a ride before the kids are up.

Billie is on her gradual re-entry into society after her grounding (honestly I don't think to kindly of grounding but it had to be done) She is currently allowed to talk to a couple of select people on the phone and spend tme with the same couple of select people . But know one else, and still no PC. I am actually dreading when she has all of her privilidges back as she has been relativly pleasent to be around oh and pretty darn nice to her brother. So the first week and a half of summer break could get a little difficult with her not having all of her privilidges back yet but oh well I'll just have to do my best to make it work.

I have a couple of knitting project on the go for the time being. I'm doing socks for Kevin, leg warmers for Billie and another felted bag for my cousin. The two bags are fabulos! they are just so cool! I can't wait to see how this one will turn out. I think that I'll start some socks for my Pa when I'm done with these ones for Kevin.

Oh the joys of knitting....and no I'm not that old...lol. I just enjoy these kinds of things ;-)

knitting histroy

A little bit of knitting histroy.

I initally learnt how to knit and crohet when I was between 7 &10, I don't really remember for sure. My Grandma Winnie taught me how, although I only new how to do the knitting, not the starting, pearling or finishing! Kinda cute to think back on really, as I would have to wait for someone to came along or my grandma to visit during the summer months (she was in the east and I am on the west coast ) So I really only did things like scarves, really long scarves sometimes and funny little dolly blankets. Nothing ever from a pattern or with pearling! Like I said I was the knitter.

Skip ahead a few years and I pick it up again but I still don't know how to pearl although I have figured out how to cast on and off (start and finish). So I guess you could say that I was making progress slowly, but progress none the less :-)
